Attempted robbery ends in high-speed car chase | THE DAILY HERALD

 PHILIPSBURG–A failed armed robbery at Rouge et Noir Casino on Front Street around 12:30am Thursday ended in a high-speed car chase of suspects by police. 

  According to information gathered at the scene, three armed men dressed in black hooded sweatshirts and wearing face masks stormed into the casino, threatened persons inside and demanded cash from the cashiers.

  “The robbers were unsuccessful in their attempt to rob the casino because of the security measures that were implemented by the casino,” said police on Thursday afternoon.

  Unable to obtain any cash, the suspects fled on foot towards the Boardwalk Boulevard area.

  While officers were searching the area for the suspects, the police received information about the car they were driving.

  A police patrol spotted the vehicle on A.Th. Illidge Road in the vicinity of Over the Pond. When police tried to pull over the vehicle, the suspects would not comply, leading police on a high-speed chase. Officers shot at the suspect vehicle in an attempt to apprehend the perpetuators, according to a press release. 

  The suspects abandoned the car in the area of Arch Road and fled on foot. Police were unable to apprehend any of the suspects.
