PHILIPSBURG–August 15 is the deadline for submission of nominations for the annual President of Parliament Youth Award. The recognition seeks to honour a young person, who is an example to his or her peers and who has contributed positively to the country.

Nomination forms and guidelines are available at sxmparliament.org under the documents section.

Nominations can be submitted by any St. Maarten resident.

The nominee must be age 15-24, have Dutch nationality or be a permanent resident who has been legally residing in the country for 10 or more consecutive years. The nominee must have been registered in the Civil Registry for that period of time.

An award committee consisting of three Members of Parliament will review the nomination and select three nominees.

The Parliament chairman will select the recipient from among the committee’s recommendations.
