Baie Nettle drowning victim finally identified

MARIGOT–The Gendarmerie has disclosed the body found on the Baie Nettle beach near the former La Belle Creole Hotel on May 26, 2016, has finally been identified.

Several days after the discovery on the beach a notice appeared in the Dutch side press about a missing person, a regular member of a church in Cole Bay. By taking the DNA from a tooth brush from the missing person in Cole Bay and matching it with DNA of the corpse found on the beach, the results matched and it was concluded the Cole Bay missing person was indeed the body found on the beach.

The victim was a Haitian national aged 33-years-old. He died from drowning. At the time of the discovery, there was no identification with the body and no other clues as to who he was. The body has now been returned to the family.
