Baker, who served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, resigned with immediate effect as of Tuesday, August 29. In his resignation letter addressed to Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, Baker said he recently took up a full-time appointment in a new position in his professional career. He said the accompanying commitments and obligations of this function are too great for him to combine with the time and dedication required to fulfil the position of Supervisor Director of the GEBE board.

Baker expressed his sincere appreciation for the opportunity to offer his contributions and to have been given the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the board of an organisation which plays such a pivotal role in the community of St. Maarten.

“It has been a great pleasure and a great honour to work with such a dedicated team and I have no doubt that the remaining Supervisory Directors are capable of navigating the organisation through the current challenging times and leading the company to renewed success,” Baker said in the letter which was copied to the Council of Ministers and the Directors of GEBE’s Supervisory Board.

Baker, Simmonds and Vice Chairman of the board Dimar Labega and Emanuel Brooks were appointed to the SBOD on October 19, 2021. Appointed to the SBOD as of January 27, 2022, were Vanessa Fraser, (for the profile as Human Resource Expert), and Denniscio Boasman (a former member of GEBE’s Supervisory Board of Directors, fulfilling the function as Technical Expert).
