Police in Dutch Quarter on Sunday. The white sedan was reported stolen by the owners who live in Pelican.
PHILIPSBURG–Two men broke into a home in Pelican and drove off with the homeowners’ vehicle and valuable belongings over the weekend. When the homeowners returned to their abode and noticed the theft, the police were contacted for assistance.
A tracking device had been installed in the stolen vehicle when purchased, allowing the police to pinpoint its exact location. When a chase by police officers ensued on Saturday, the two men left the car in the middle of Dutch Quarter Road and bolted towards the bushes.
The officers lost the men foot, and retrieved the vehicle, which was held for several hours for processing to collect any possible evidence left in the car by the thieves.
No injuries were reported during the break-in.
