MARIGOT—Sweat, sacrifice and sheer hard work will be put to the test on July 1-2 when Team St. Martin from Bodybuilding and Fitness Association of St. Martin (BFASM) represents French St. Martin at the 6th Annual Inter-Island Bodybuilding, Fitness and Physique Championship to be held in Casino Royale in Maho.
Leading the team of nine athletes out on stage will be current 2015 Men’s Physique Champion Junior Guercin, 2016 St. Lucia Bikini Champion Elvina Matthew, and 2015/2016 Junior Men’s Physique Champion, Joseph Carty.
The public weigh-in will be held in the Lazy Bay Parking Lot in Marigot at 7:00pm on July 1 followed by the much-anticipated contest in Casino Royale on the evening of July 2 which is hosted by French St. Martin.
Some 50 athletes are participating from Aruba, Antigua, Anguilla, Barbados, St. Kitts, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, St. Martin and Country St. Maarten. The categories include Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Body Fitness. Trophies and $2,000 is at stake for the overall winner in each category.
“90% of the athletes competing are seasoned Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championship regular participants and qualifiers who are presently preparing for the 2016 CAC,” noted BFASM President Francois Carty. “They make good use of the St. Martin Inter-Island Championship every year competing against each other and I can assure you that this event will be a strongly-contested competition. I would like to thank all our sponsors, athletes and federations for making this event a yearly success.”
