BONAIRE–Bonaire went into lockdown after 62 coronavirus COVID-19 infections were registered on Tuesday, bringing the number of active cases to 298.

  There were six patients at the hospital with COVID-19 symptoms, none of them in intensive care. The pandemic has claimed six lives on the island so far.

  Island Governor Edison Rjina announced a curfew from Thursday, March 18 from 9:00pm to 4:00am. Also, no alcohol may be served or consumed outside the home.

  Schools and day-cares will close their doors until after the Easter holidays. The measures apply for the next two weeks.
