MARIGOT–Business Professional Women (BPW) Concordia President Kathia Magdeleine has been nominated by the International Federation of Business Professional Women (IFBPW) to act as a delegate at the 62nd session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on the Status of Women to be held in New York, New York, USA, March 12-23.

Representatives of member states, UN entities, and UN Economics and Social Council (ECOSOS) accredited non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will be attending the session.

Magdeleine will be accompanied by Vice-President of Public Relations Danielle Chance, Treasurer Linda Lake, young BPW Concordia representative Averdine (Soshina) Stephens, Catherine Magdeleine, and Thomas and Chantal Yacinthe.

Kathia said, “I am truly humbled at the opportunity of serving as a delegate at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. I am also learning that as a member of BPW Concordia, and by extension a member of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, the opportunities are limitless.

“Never did I imagine that BPW Concordia St. Martin, which was accepted as an affiliate of the federation on March 28, 2017, would be held in such high esteem in such a short period of time.  BPW has proven to be a propeller for persons who are serious about leadership and professional development. Its consultative status with the United Nations allows a vast array of career and networking opportunities.”

The delegation leaves for New York on Thursday.
