BTP hosts meeting with PSS and United Postal Union | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Bureau Telecommunications and Post (BTP) St. Maarten and BTP Supervisory Board Vice-Chair Chet Euton conducted a meeting with the United Postal Union of the Americas, Portugal and Spain UPAEP on February 22.

  UPAEP is an association of the postal authorities of the countries of the Americas, Spain and Portugal that promotes technical cooperation among postal operators of member countries. During the meeting in-depth discussions took place on the situation of the postal sector in St. Maarten and ways to further promote, develop and modernise postal services.

  The meeting was initiated by PSS Managing Director Antonia Wilson, who invited the UPAEP Secretary-General Roberto Cavanna and his supporting team to the island to meet with several key stakeholders in St. Maarten.

  BTP Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Judianne Labega-Hoeve said, “The multi-stakeholder meeting was very productive and effective. Postal Services St. Maarten is currently facing financial and operational challenges, and collaboration with international organisations such as UPAEP is imperative to further strengthen the postal services on our island.

  “We are thankful for the support and professional guidance of the UPAEP and their commitment to provide financial assistance to upgrade postal services in St. Maarten.”
