Bumper turnout expected for 2nd Summer Splash Family Fun event | THE DAILY HERALD

Ice creams, candy floss and local food and drinks will all be available.

This weekend’s Summer Splash in Bellevue is expected to be very well attended again.

MARIGOT–“Overwhelming” was how organisers SXM Horizon and Foundation for Hope Music and Development described the turnout for the last Summer Family Fun Bounce and Splash event held in the gardens of Bellevue on the weekend of July 28 and 29.

It was so well received by parents and children that an encore has been organised for this coming Saturday and Sunday in the same location between 10:00am and 6:00pm on both days.

Party specialists Funtopia will again be assisting by organising entertainment and games for the children. Emcees for the fun event are Dutty Sham, Caution, and DJ Blaze will be providing the music.

“Parents are asked again to accompany their children. For that we are not charging parents an entrance fee. The entrance fee for children is 10 euros or US $10 which includes a snack and a drink,” said President of Foundation for Hope Music and Development, Paul Whit.

There will be three different size pools for swimming or splashing about. Water trucks will be changing the water regularly during the day for hygiene regulations. In keeping with the security commission requirements swimming instructors and supervisors are on site at all times. In all there will be some 30 volunteers making sure all goes smoothly with no accidents.

Local food and drink stands will be available for adults so children will be free to enjoy themselves to the fullest. Many other activities will be available, including games such as dominos, basketball, and bouncy castles. Disney characters will be entertaining the children.

At around 4:00pm a carnival-style “Wet Fête” takes place with fire and water trucks spraying the kids with water, something that is always eagerly anticipated.

“There will be plenty to keep children occupied for the whole day,” added Whit. “We hope many children and parents from both sides of the island will come out and enjoy this weekend. Come with flip flops and beach wear.”

Extra parking has been organised for this weekend in Bellevue but shuttles will also be available to take people down to the gardens from the Bellevue basketball courts opposite Home ‘N Tools.

The Summer Splash events have been made possible by partnerships with Fondation de France, Collectivité of St. Martin, 4 Real we agree with Culture, SDL, Funtopia, and Cloud 97 training and website marketing.
