The items abandoned by the three burglars. Police urge anyone who recognises the items as theirs to come forward.
OYSTER POND–Three burglars abandoned a bag with suspected stolen items after they were spotted by security guards on the premises of a building complex at Princess Heights around 2:55am Friday, August 17.
The thieves apparently had broken into a home at Princess Heights in Oyster Pond. The items in the bag appeared to be from another burglary and the police are urging persons who identify the items as belonging to them to come forward.
Reports indicated that three unknown suspects gained access into one of the apartments at the Princess Heights building complex while the occupants were asleep in the wee hours of Friday morning.
Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release on Thursday that the security guard on shift saw the suspects while they were still on the premises. The maintenance supervisor of the property was notified and a search to locate the suspects started. When the suspects noticed that they had been discovered, they took off running, leaving behind a bag containing several electronic items. However, the suspects were not apprehended, Henson said.
A “small amount” of cash and the keys to a vehicle belonging to the occupants whose apartment was broken into were stolen. The bag the suspects left behind while fleeing the scene does not belong to anyone living in the building complex where the burglars were found and Henson said it most probably came from a different address.
The items retrieved from the bag include a “Merona” brand cream-coloured handbag with light blue, dark blue, orange and yellow stripes; one black Direct TV HD-DVR; two white Sony PS3; two wireless Sony controllers; one black smart-hub Samsung remote control; one Direct TV remote control; one pair of sunglasses; seven Blu-ray discs; seven electrical cables; and one power adaptor.
The investigating team urges anyone who identifies the items as being their property to immediately visit Detective Department or call the department at tel. 542-2222 ext. 213/214.
