Cable TV connecting more homes this holiday season   | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–TelEm Group plans to connect homes in several areas for its Cable TV service in the coming days, the company announced on Sunday. TelEm is the parent company of St. Maarten Cable TV and has been restoring service for months following the passage of Hurricane Irma in September last year.

According to TelEm, the company’s Cable TV customers in the areas Belvedere, St. John’s Estate and Ebenezer who until now have not had their service restored can do so now at their own convenience. Other areas will be opened up for connection in the coming months.

Customers in the areas mentioned who previously had SXM Cable TV service should switch on their Cable TV box to see if they are receiving the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). Once a customer can see the Programme Guide, they can visit any TelEm Group location to make arrangements for opening of their new account and connection of service.

“This is a good opportunity for TelEm Cable TV customers in these areas to get reconnected for the Christmas and New Year season, because we are waiving the usual reconnection fee to get our customers back on line,” said TelEm Sales Manager Lucrecia Lynch.

Customers whose Cable TV service was interrupted due to the passage of Hurricane Irma and are now applying for reconnection are also set to receive a free month of TelEm Cable TV service as an added bonus. The offer is only being applied to customers with service interruption caused by Hurricane Irma.

Lynch said the key to the reconnections and knowing whether customers can receive service lies with them being able to view the Electronic Program Guide that shows the line-up of channels available.

“Some customers in the areas might will find they don’t receive the program guide, and in that event we ask that they still call us with a report so that we can take the necessary steps to get them connected as soon as possible,” she said.

TelEm has introduced a new queueing system so that customers can be attended to more efficiently and invited TelEm Cable TV and other customers to come in and test the system for themselves.
