SUCKER GARDEN–After donating hundreds of bread daily at their main supermarket on the L.B. Scott Road, Cake House Supermarket is now donating fresh hot bread to residents in Sucker Garden and surrounding areas.
Owner Sandra Cheung told The Daily Herald on Sunday that the supermarket is now donating fresh bread from 7:00am to 9:00am daily in Sucker Garden. The group will be based daily at the entrance of the Keys by the bridge.
Cheung said the supermarket is trying to assist as many residents as it can for as long as it can with fresh bread to help them feed their families in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The supermarket is expected to be there for the remainder of the month.
In the meantime, Dennis Chu of Sun Kwong Supermarket located on Cannegieter Street, has a bakery and can bake a large quantity of bread, but he is in need of a small generator to be able to operate the bread machine to mix the bread. A portion of the bread will be sold and some donated to the community. Persons interested in donating a generator can contact tel. 586-3019.
