Calibration training   | THE DAILY HERALD

Inspectors Nelson Rombley, Marcando Winklaar and Genaro Smith of the Tourism and Economic Affairs Ministry’s Department of Inspection returned recently returned from an Inspection of Weights and Measurements Training in Saba that covered the calibration of electricity and water meters and updates to calibration and measurements.

They learned about the calibration system and the Caribbean Netherlands calibration and inspections laws, and participated an island-wide check of weights and scales at supermarkets, the Post Office, the airport and the fuelling station. The inspections were part of the practical training conducted by Radio Communications Agency Inspector for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Henk Bartels. Saba Economic Affairs Head Dave Levenstone supervised the training.

On returning home, the inspectors checked and certified baggage scales at Princess Juliana International Airport. They also met Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Stuart Johnson. He said his ministry has “an enormous responsibility” to protect consumers and suppliers by ensuring that inspections are carried out.
