Sexy Mona performing on stage.
ST. EUSTATIUS--On the night of Tuesday, July 21, the Calm Before the Storm event brought some chill vibes to Carnival 2026. The laid-back event served as the kick-off to marathon days of non-stop music at the Carnival Village, which are expected to continue over the coming days.
Newcomers showcasing some amazing talent on stage.
Joey and Friends took to the stage first. The group has been around for many years, and even though one of its members has passed away, the group continues to bring joy and entertainment to the public.
Sexy Mona, a longtime Calypso veteran, also took the stage with her famous Panty Jam. Newcomers Chanel and Co. energised the crowd with their performance. Mirrow, Showtime, and the 2026 Road March King Big Shenn then pumped up the audience with their individual rousing renditions.
The beautiful models then showcased some inspiring costumes throughout the event. The bands for the evening – Encore, Energy, and Raw Life – closed out the night with energetic music. DJ Sense kept the audience engaged between sets with his wonderful selections as tune after tune was played, especially classic songs by Lord Gene and other past Calypsonians.
The evening was a great success, as both new and familiar faces took centre stage to make it a memorable show.
