Capitaine Emmanuel Maignan receives new posting in France

MARIGOT–The Gendarmerie’s second-in-command, Capitaine Emmanuel Maignan, is shortly to leave St. Martin for a new posting in France and a farewell cocktail was held in the Gendarmerie compound in La Savane to wish him well.

His tour of duty began in 2014 as joint second in command with Capitaine Régis Turlan Arto before being promoted to Deputy Commandant in 2015.

On hand for the occasion was Commandant of the Gendarmerie in Guadeloupe Colonel Jean-Marc Descoux, Vice-Prosecutor Yves Paillard, and the Préfecture’s Chef de Cabinet Emmanuel Effantin who represented Préfète Anne Laubies, Capitaine Régis Turlan Arto and Commandant Sébastien Manzoni.

Following the speeches Capitaine Maignan, married with two young boys, received the Prefecture’s Medal from Emmanuel Effantin while colleagues also presented gifts.

His new posting is with the Gendarmerie Mantes la Jolie in Yvelines, a Department of Ile de France, where he will be the Deputy Commandant for the remainder of 2017 before taking overall command in 2018.

Also leaving for new postings are Major Lionel Liandrat, Commandant of the Peloton de Surveillance et d’ Intervention PSIG and Capitaine Laurent Luna, Commandant of the St. Barths Brigade who is retiring after 31 years and eight months of service.

Successors have not yet been named.
