Hurricane Irma damaged her roof, but since long before that an elderly resident of Tangerine Road has battled with another disruption to her daily life: an abandoned car in front of her yard. Now that car has further added to her woes, because accessing her yard has become a matter of wading through backed-up water and running sewage. Debris dumped by the hurricane is lodged between the car and her fence, creating a dam that forces runoff water into her yard. Prior to the hurricane and years before that, she had contacted authorities numerous times requesting the car’s removal, to no avail. She hopes her plea will finally be heard and the car removed along with the debris. (John Halley photo)
