Governor Eugene Holiday and Deputy Prime Minister Richard Gibson Sr. were present at the Caribbean Academy for Law and Court Administration (CALCA) fourth Biennial Conference on Law, which started on Thursday morning. The theme for the two-day conference is “Law at the crossroads, Reappraising the Role of Common Law and Civil Law Practitioners in Transnational Development.” The Conference is hosted in partnership with the General Legal Counsel of Jamaica, the St. Maarten Bar Association and the Organisation for Harmonisation of Business Law in the Caribbean. CALCA is the educational arm of the Caribbean Court of Justice and has as its main objectives the advancement of knowledge, training and research in the practical application of law, especially international law, and of the administration of justice in the Caribbean context.
