PHILIPSBURG–Caribbean Eagles (CE) St. Maarten motorbike club will host the eleventh annual SXM Bike Fest from Friday, November 8, to Monday, November 11.

Bikers from Curaçao, Aruba, France, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Croix, Canada, Luxemburg, the Netherlands and St. Barths are expected to attend the event.

CE said it is pleased to be able to bring this event to the island for another year. CE President Jane Therond-Netto and CE’s board are calling all local riders to come and join in the festivities. The club also thanks sponsors and everyone who helped. “Without you we cannot do it,” said the club.

Event registration started at the CE clubhouse on Orange Grove Road in Cole Bay at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 7. Riders can also register from 4:30 to 7:30pm on Friday, November 8. There is to be a welcome party on Friday, said CE.

On Saturday, a group ride will start from the CE clubhouse at 4:00pm. All days of the Bike Fest will have a group ride.

“After every day’s ride, we have a party … with live music and entertainment. You do not need to ride a motorbike, you are welcome to join the parties,” said the club in a press release. All after-parties will be held at We Lounge in Maho, said CE.

CE also asked those attending group rides to be mindful that these events will be following international riding rules. “Helmets are required. Those without helmets will not be permitted to ride with the group. Caribbean Eagles promotes safe riding and requests that all automobile drivers on the island [to – Ed.] take special care when driving that weekend, as there will be many bikes on the road,” said CE.

“We are looking for someone that would like to do the burnout; we have great prizes,” said the club. CE also said there will be a 40-per-cent discount offered by The Rain Forest for its zipline on Saturday and Sunday for all participating riders.

Riders will also receive a special offer from Harley Davidson Daytona for hotel stays to attend the Daytona Bike Week in 2020.

“This is the eleventh annual Bike Fest for the Caribbean Eagles and we are excited to be celebrating this milestone with all the local riders of St. Maarten, as well as with those from around the world.

“Due to lack of transportation … from some Islands, there is an urgent need for motorbike rentals. If you have a bike that you will not be riding in the bike fest, but are interesting in renting to a fellow biker, please pass by the club on Friday night.

“Caribbean Eagles is pleased to organise this event for the island; in tough economic times, it’s a great stimulation for the economy,” said CE.
