Residents of Beacon Hill got together recently to rid their neighbourhood of unwanted trash and litter.
This was the second annual clean-up exercise conducted by residents. A total of 21 residents including two “helpers” from Sunset Beach Bar, participated in the exercise in which recyclables and trash were picked up along the entrance road and around the neighbourhood. A beach access road, which had been impassable, was also partially cleared by hand but needs a bulldozer to clear the remaining debris. The group also painted over graffiti markings with the words “Respect, Don’t Litter!” The neighbourhood will also be unifying its video and security guard surveillance with a crime alert system which will immediately notify neighbours of any suspicious or criminal activity as part of its zero tolerance for crime. Photos show the beach access road before and after it had been cleaned.
