SIMPSON BAY–The Simpson Bay causeway bridge will close to vehicular traffic today, Tuesday, from noon to 2:00pm to allow engineers to make an operational assessment of damage to the swing section caused by Hurricane Irma on September 6.
Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority (SLAC), the entity responsible for the causeway, advises persons going to Princess Juliana International Airport for flights to head there earlier to avoid any inconvenience
The assessment should take 30 or more minutes. SLAC opted to restrict access to motorists for the extended period to avoid any inconvenience.
Engineers who will carry out the repair works arrived in the country over the weekend.
