Census Office is closed for odour

PHILIPSBURG–The Ministry of General Affairs has informed the public that the building which houses the Civil Registry and Receiver’s Office will be closed until Monday, March 13.

An extensive clean-up of the premises will take place following the detection of an unpleasant odour on Wednesday morning. The Fire Department and Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure VROMI staff assessed the situation and ruled out any possible electrical short circuit or fire damage.

The Civil Registry Department will operate today, Thursday, and Friday, March 10, from the Marriage Hall section of the complex and render a “Pick-up Service” for persons who had already paid for services earlier and can provide proof of payment for their documents.

People are also required to bring their previous or expired document when coming to collect papers. The list of documents to be picked up includes ID cards, driver’s licences, passports and declaration forms.

The Civil Registry will open from 8:00am to 3:30pm and the branch at the Simpson Bay Public Service Centre will open from 8:30am until 12:00pm for persons who requested their documents from that location.

The Ministry of General Affairs apologised for any inconvenience this closure may cause.
