PHILIPSBURG–The Central Bank for Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) has introduced the CBCS Economic Research Award.
The award was introduced in celebration of CBCS’ 190th anniversary observed on February 6. The award is an annual prize to promote research on the economies of Curaçao and St. Maarten. HAVO and VWO students in Curaçao and St. Maarten as well as local and international university students are invited to participate in this competition.
The award will be presented in four categories. The first is the Best Economic Research Award on HAVO level. The winner will receive a cash prize of NAf. 2,500. The winner’s school also receives a cash prize of NAf. 2,500.
The second is the Best Economic Research Award on VWO level. The winner will receive NAf. 2,500. The winner’s school also receives a money prize of NAf. 2,500.
The third is the Best Economic Research Award at the Bachelor’s level. The winner will receive NAf. 5,000. And the fourth category is the Best Economic Research Award on the Master’s level. The winner will receive NAf. 7,500.
The CBCS said in a press release on Monday that it hopes that this project will be embraced especially by the schools in Curaçao and St. Maarten, by motivating their students with economics in their curriculum to participate in the competition. Winners will be announced on December 7, 2018. An award ceremony will be held to award the winners.
