 ST. EUSTATIUS–A meeting of the Island Council’s Central Committee is scheduled to be held at 2:00pm today, Thursday, June 24, at V.A. Lopes Legislative Hall in St. Eustatius.

  The meeting will have several agenda points, a few of which will be conducted behind closed doors, and restricted to the general public for confidentiality reasons.

  The agenda points are the ratification of the decision list of June 3, 2021. The BES(t) for Kids youth programme, the Nature Ordinance, the announcements of the Executive Council and the government website will also be debated.

  The agenda points concerning health policy, poverty policy and the planning of the central administration office are all scheduled to be discussed behind closed doors. The meeting will be transmitted live on Radio 92.3FM.

  1. Yes, even if it is about persons who want something from the government, it is the right of the people to know all.

  2. Closed doors means that representatives see themselves more as part of the governing (colonial) system than as representatives of the people. There may never be secrets for the people!
