Member of Parliament (MP) Claude Peterson honoured the St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) election pledge by donating 15 per cent of his salary to two groups: Be The Change Foundation (NAf. 2,900) and White and Yellow Cross Foundation (NAf. 770). He chose the foundations due to their very visible work in the community. He will continue to give back in this form until Parliament adopts a salary cut. Peterson hopes more MPs “will also see the importance of making this symbolic gesture at a time when our country is still combatting the devastating effects of [Hurricane] Irma while many in our community remain jobless and roofless.”
