ST. EUSTATIUS–The St. Eustatius Government held a Christmas celebration for civil servants on Saturday night. There was a good turnout for the party.
Government Commissioner Marcolino “Mike” Franco spoke a few words to the civil servants in attendance. “We have been gathering together for several times during this year and mostly those times are for work-related reasons. This time we are coming together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the time to enjoy, share and reflect on all the things that happened over the course of 2018,” Franco said.
He encouraged everyone to enjoy the evening and wished everyone a “Merry Christmas and a new Happy New Year filled with joy.”
The unity among the civil servants was on display all night. They were served some delicious food and after dinner, they hit the dance floor dancing and singing to the tunes played by Rebels Band HD and DJ Sense until the wee hours of the morning. Highlight of the evening was when a large majority of civil servants went to the dance floor to perform the “Electric Slide” synchronised dance.
Several gifts were raffled off to the civil servants during the evening. Millicent Romney-Lijfrock won the grand prize, a flat-screen TV. Other prizes included a laptop, cell phones, microwave oven, toasters, a deep-fryer and more.
