PHILIPSBURG–The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI) will be introducing a business orientation programme this month.
COCI Executive Director Anastacio Baker said in a press release on Tuesday that the Chamber staff will be assisting new entrepreneurs by educating them on the process of registering their new business at the various government and non-government entities to ensure that they meet all of their obligations according to the laws of the country.
Key government entities are COCI, the Tax Inspectorate and Social and Health Insurances SZV.
President of the COCI Board Stanley Lint said the orientation programme is to facilitate new businesses with respect to the registration process, best practices and to provide advice on other agencies and organisations that could assist initial start-ups.
The orientation will take about 30 minutes. COCI through its trade register aides in providing a secure environment for business undertakings in St. Maarten. While this is its primary function, COCI also contributes to the socio-economic development of St. Maarten, it was stated in the release.
COCI, through its representatives on committees (and) through its advisory function, undertakes to contribute effectively and actively toward initiatives aimed at creating a sustainable business environment in St. Maarten, the release noted.
