MARIGOT–The Collectivité’s Department of Solidarity and Families distributed 375 Christmas baskets to the elderly on Sunday, December 17, despite the rain on that day. The distribution of baskets is an annual tradition.

Vans were loaded with baskets at a depot in Sandy Ground and driven to various homes in six districts. Each recipient was presented with a Christmas basket of goodies and a turkey or a ham. Vice-President Annick Petrus, responsible for the Department, was present with the Collectivité staff during the distribution. The Department always contributes to the senior citizen’s welfare during the Christmas season.

“Christmas is a time for giving and a time for sharing,” the Collectivité noted. “The Department of Solidarity and Families wishes everyone happy holidays and a healthy and prosperous 2018.”
