Collectivité launching second ‘Faces of St. Martin’ exhibition | THE DAILY HERALD

MARIGOT–The Collectivité announced it is launching the second edition of its “Faces of St. Martin” outdoor photo exhibition and is appealing for photographers to take part.

The first edition was held in June 2017 and saw giant format black and white photographs of recognizable personalities adorning the sides of buildings or walls in Marigot. The exhibition was very well received by residents and tourists, the Collectivité noted.

This year the theme of the exhibition is “St. Martin at work.”

“This year the exhibition addresses the impact Hurricane Irma had on the island and how it affected employment, the Collectivité said in its release. “It will help to promote the reconstruction trades and skills, raise young people’s awareness of trades and encourage others to embrace the rebuilding effort.”

Each photograph submitted for this exhibition will have to illustrate a profession, with the activity in progress and a person photographed engaging in the activity. Candidates must take 15 black and white photographs showing the diversity of St. Martin’s professions.

The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers ages 16 years and over. The first three candidates selected will each receive a prize. The exhibition will take place in Marigot and will be extended to other districts.

Photographs will be printed in black and white on large blue-backed paper (such as election posters or metro posters) and glued on the walls of St. Martin. Applications (complete file and USB key containing the photographs) can be submitted until the deadline Monday, October 15, 2018 at 12:00pm. Application forms can be downloaded from www.marches-securises.fr
