Collectivité organises free open air cinema for August

MARIGOT–The Collectivité has once again organised a projection of movies to be shown in each district throughout August beginning this coming weekend.

  Aimed at the younger generation, “Cinema in August” is an initiative to help keep children occupied before they return to school in September. Screens and projectors are set up in the open at different locations. Two screenings will be shown per weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, and start at 6:00pm.

  The movie projections are organised by the Culture Department of the Collectivité on the request of President Daniel Gibbs and his majority, and overseen by First Vice-President for Youth, Culture and Sports, Valérie Damaseau, and President of the Culture Commission, Yolande Sylvestre.

  The movie schedule is as follows: Saturday, August 5, “Power Rangers” in the Thelbert Carti Stadium, French Quarter; Sunday, August 6, “Moana”, in the Thelbert Carti Stadium; Saturday, August 12, “The Great Wall,” in Grand Case in front of the Cultural Center; Sunday, August 13, “Trolls,” in Grand Case; Saturday, August 19, “Beauty and the Beast,” Sandy Ground sports ground; Sunday, August 20, “Elena,” at the Sandy Ground sports ground; and Saturday and Sunday, August 26 and 27, two movies still to be selected, for screening at the kiosk on the waterfront.
