MARIGOT—The Collectivité’s Department of Youth Affairs and Sports will organise an information day and open house on sports activities available in the territory on Saturday, September 17 at the François Mathew Omni Sports Hall in Galis Bay fropm 9 :00am to 2 :00pm.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness among the general public, and especially the youth, of the numerous sports that can be practised in the territory.
Many sports associations and clubs will be present on that day to inform families about the activities they have to offer: These can include, but are not limited to: Martial Arts, Athletics, Basketball, Beach Tennis, Capoeira, Cricket, Cycling, Dance, Football, Gymnastics, Motocross, Swimming, Rounders, Rugby, Surfing, Tae Kwon Do, Tennis, Archery, Trail Running, Volleyball, Windsurfing, Sailing, and many other disciplines.
New this year next to the Omni Sports Hall is the beach area created by the Collectivité which will be open to the public. Demonstrations of Beach Tennis and Volleyball are scheduled, as well as sports entertainment inside the hall.
Parents and children are invited to bring a swimsuit to enjoy aquatic activities that the Collectivité will propose during this day of free discovery. For example, the public can try out the giant paddle board that can take up to eight people.
The Collectivité encourages the public to come out on September 17 to get all the information on sports of interest and join the clubs.
The public is also informed that the sports grounds in French Cul-de-Sac and in Spring, French Quarter, are open following renovations to both facilities. They are open each day of the week to sports club, associations, schools, from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
