Collectivité reminds public of waste collection system, pick-up schedules

MARIGOT–In order to best meet requirements of cleanliness and respect for the environment, the Collectivité has set up an efficient waste collection system throughout the year: seven days a week for household waste, five times a week for bulky items, and three times a week for green waste.

The Collectivité reminds the population that garbage bins have been installed in the territory to allow residents to deposit their household waste daily. The bins provided for this purpose should be used from 6:00pm (at sunset), so waste can be collected every evening from 7:00pm (seven days a week).

Bulky items (scrap metal, household appliances, music systems, mattresses, etc.) are collected every day except Sundays, from 6:00pm onwards: drop-off close to rubbish bins (but drop-off prohibited on sidewalks or in front of homes). Green waste is collected three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), in the morning. It should be stored in closed bags and placed near garbage shelters.

The Collectivé reminds craftsmen, traders and professionals that they are responsible for their waste and its disposal. The illegal dumping of household waste, bulky waste and green waste is prohibited by law (Article L. 541-3 of the Environmental Code).

The Galisbay recycling drop-off centre is open daily from 10:00am to 6:00pm (except Sundays and public holidays). The Grandes Cayes ecosite is open Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday from 6:00am to 12:00pm.

The Collectivité’s Direction de l’Environnement et du Cadre de Vie invites the population to use the facilities that are in place and recommends following these instructions while respecting the living environment of fellow citizens.
