MARIGOT–The Collectivité has brought out the first issue of its July/August 2018 quarterly e-newsletter called Our News which had been put on hold due to the consequences of the 2017 hurricanes.

President Daniel Gibbs said in his introduction: “I am extremely pleased to present the Collectivité’s newest information sharing tool; a quarterly territorial publication that I requested be bilingual so that we can best keep you up-to-date on the ongoing building activities initiated by my majority members of the Territorial Council.

“In addition to our website

www.com-saint-martin.fr , the Collectivité’s Facebook page ‘Collectivité de Saint-Martin-Our News,’ the new mobile application My Saint Martin, and weekly and daily news in the press, this newest mean of communication completes the building blocks of the information campaign I wanted to establish with my Council, to keep you well informed throughout my term.

“For this first issue we decided to put the spotlight on the reconstruction of the island and the budgets that are allocated to projects in the multiannual investment programme PPI. I also want to present the new urbanism rules applicable on the island, in keeping with the map of hurricane and flood risks published by the French government services in December.

“This first issue also presents the new administrative roadmap for the next four years that I created at the end of 2017 in conjunction with members of my team under the heading of our Phoenix Plan for reconstruction.

“I hope this communication tool will allow you to follow the actions of our elected officials undertaken on behalf of our island and residents. Our common goal is to make St. Martin an island par excellence where socio-economic development and a respect for our environment are at the heart of our ongoing public policies. This is a long-term desire and I know that we can make it happen by working together.”
