Collision between 2 scooters leaves one seriously injured

MARIGOT–A scooter rider was evacuated to Guadeloupe for specialised treatment after an accident in Concordia over the weekend.

For so far unexplained reasons two scooters collided head on in Concordia at around 8:00pm Saturday night. The riders were thrown from their machines and lay injured in the road when Gendarmes arrived.

Both were transported to the Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital, however, the one who had the more serious injuries was evacuated to Guadeloupe. The extent of their injuries was not known.

Capitaine Régis Turlan Arto indicated blood samples were taken to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident, but the results have not been received back as yet. He also noted that both scooters had vanished before Gendarmes arrived.

Earlier in the week at around 7:00pm on Thursday a Chinese supermarket at the Baie Nettle end of Sandy Ground was robbed at gun point by two individuals. About 300 in mixed US dollars and euros was stolen. The suspects fled on a scooter. The Gendarmerie is investigating.
