Cayhill-More than 60 girls and women participated in the Women’s Football Day that took place on Saturday May 21st 2016. The event, sponsored by Law office Sulvaran & Peterson, took place at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex and had girls and women, from both the Dutch and French sides of the island, taking part in the activities. The program consisted of football skills challenges which covered juggling, dribbling, shooting and keeper skills and ended with 5v5 games. President of Parliament, Mrs. Sarah Wescott-Williams, head of Sports department Ms. Jonelle Richardson and President of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association Mr. Sudesh Singh gave speeches in support of Women’s Football Day. ‘Last year we had only 15 participants and this year more than 60. With such a huge outcome we are more than grateful for all the volunteers who assisted in making the day a success’ commented chair of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association women’s committee Ms. Danaë Daal.
