Most fractions in Bonaire’s Island Council (file photo) support the translation of meetings held in Papiamentu, as proposed by opposition party PDB. Dutch is the second official language in the Public Entity that together with St. Eustatius and Saba forms the Caribbean Netherlands.

Coalition partner MPB pointed out that currently virtual gatherings due to the COVID-19 crisis already present a challenge.
