Gemini Contractors owners Rudy Nijbroek and Mariska De Jong donated a container office to St. Maarten Archaeological Centre Simarc to conduct a rescue of the country’s archaeological artefact collections. The centre was destroyed in Hurricane Irma and rescuing the artefacts is Simarc’s highest priority, said director archaeologist Dr. Jay Haviser. A Simarc facility is sought. The donation is complemented by financial and logistical contributions from Prins Bernhard Culture Funds, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and the Ministry of Public Housing VROMI.
