Court sentences Fish Day gunman to 15 years prison | THE DAILY HERALD

MARIGOT–The court in Basse Terre, Guadeloupe on Friday, June 29, sentenced Jn Marie Job, a 28-year-old St. Martiner, for the killing of Jonathan Fredon at Fish Day on Sunday, May 5, 2013, according to a court report.

For the hundreds of concert-goers who were in the Fish Day village in Cul-de-Sac that fateful evening little did they know what was about to unfold as they listened to the live bands on stage.

At around 7:45pm gun shots suddenly rang out in the village. In what was assumed to be a settling of scores, Marie Job shot Fredon dead, but seven persons were also injured in the cross fire, two very seriously.

Panic and chaos ensued as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene to tend to the injured, hampered by double parking on the road leading to the village. The Gendarmerie attempted to restore order and stability.

The prosecutor demanded 20 years in prison for Marie Job, however, the lawyer representing the family of Jonathan Fredon was satisfied with the verdict. The defence lawyer for Marie Job who argued for an acquittal for his client said he would appeal the verdict. Since 2013 security at Fish Day has been significantly increased.
