St. Eustatius Fire Department held a refresher training for motor-vehicle traffic accidents on Thursday. Acting Fire Chief Chester Tearr said the fire department undertakes these refresher courses at various times throughout the year.

Fire personnel were busy taking part in a simulation training in which a car had flipped on its roof with the driver trapped inside. Fire personnel went through various steps to safely remove the trapped person from the vehicle, using scissors, a ram, and the jaws of life.
