Crash landing   | THE DAILY HERALD

A small aircraft crashed Tuesday around 8:00pm in Aruba. Both occupants were only slightly injured.

The Piper-model aircraft registration N23408 was coming from the Dominican Republic and fell in the Calbas bushes near Alto Vista, behind Philips Animal Garden. The pilot had radioed in that he was out of fuel and unsure if they could reach the island. It was hard to find the exact location due to the rough terrain, but three mountain bikers who had witnessed the incident directed emergency services to the spot.

The wreck did not catch fire, presumably due to the lack of fuel. Social media reports suggested a bag with drugs and money had been found there by police later, but this could not be confirmed.
