WILLEMSTAD–The Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival (CNSJF) will not take place in 2017 after all. This has been decided “with a heavy heart,” by organiser “Fundashon Bon Intenshon” (FBI) and Mojo Concerts.
They said that after a renewed effort, sparing no trouble or expense, to realise a high quality programme, it turned out that no main acts were available for the festival weekend.
FBI and Mojo decided late last year to cancel the 2017 edition of the festival for the same reason. Shortly thereafter and in cooperation with a number of local stakeholders, it was agreed to try again.
“Since then the organisation has, behind the screens, made every effort, but, unfortunately, without the desired result,” added a press release.
“In balancing both private and public interests, Fundashon Bon Intenshon aspires to a consistent long-term vision of entertainment on international top level. In this respect it is inevitable, in the event of a limited availability of acts, to choose to cancel the festival. It is essential to guarantee the reputation of the event for both the country Curaçao and abroad.
“After having considered all options there is, also in view of the contribution from community funds, no other option for the organisation but to put the festival on hold this year and fully focus on the 2018 edition.”
