PHILIPSBURG–The new curfew time now goes into effect as of 9:00pm tonight, a change from 7:00pm. The end of the curfew remains at 6:00am. The new curfew will be in effect until Monday, October 2.
The change was a joint decision of the Dutch and French side Governments following a meeting on cross-border cooperation this afternoon. In attendance were Governor Eugene Holiday, Justice Minister Rafael Boasman, Tourism Minister Mellissa Arrindell Doncher, Prefet Anne Laubies and French side President Daniel Gibbs.
Both Governments call on residents to respect the new curfew hours. Law enforcement will conduct patrols.
Maintenance of the curfew will aid in the clean-up efforts and enhances the public order and safety for businesses and residents, the authorities said.
