PHILIPSBURG–Dutch political party D66 received the most votes on St. Maarten in today’s European Parliament elections.

The party captured 18 votes, one ahead of the Labour Party PvdA.

Other parties captuing votes were VVD nine votes, Groen Links eight votes, CDA (five), Forum voor Democratie (four), 50 Plus and Volt Nederlands two votes each and SP one vote.

The ballots were cast and counted at the Office of the Dutch Representation in Philipsburg. All 22,559 plus Dutch citizens residing on St. Maarten have the right to vote, but only 95 registered to vote in the election. Of those 95, 66 cast a ballot on Thursday.
