Debris cleared from beach

Residents in Beacon Hill have spent the last three months clearing up the Simpson Bay beach along the Airport runway.

The wood that washed ashore had protruding nails and screws that could have ruined the pristine stretch of sand. After two bonfires and sifting out approximately 30 pounds of nails and screws, the beach is safe and beautiful again. The second bonfire took place Tuesday night during the super moon. Several Beacon Hill residents came out to enjoy the event. The neighbourhood has also launched a private Facebook group for homeowners, residents and visitors to share items of interest. They encourage other neighbourhoods to come together in a similar manner and have offered to help set up a Facebook group. Those interested may contact the administrators at the Beacon Hill SXM page.
