ANGUILLA–The Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) has been congratulated for the successful rescue at Black Garden that occurred last week.

On the morning of April 26 the AFRS received a report that following the collapse of coastal rock, someone had fallen down a cliff in the area of Limestone Bay and Black Garden. A team from AFRS trained in Urban Search and Rescue and two medical personnel were dispatched to the location. The rescue team rappelled down the cliff and prepared the injured man for placement on two stretchers. He was then hoisted above the cliff to a place of safety and taken to hospital for medical attention.

On April 30, Deputy Governor Perin Bradley met the team to congratulate the officers on the successful rescue operation. He said the incident illustrated the lead role the AFRS have in search and rescue in Anguilla.
