ST. EUSTATIUS–Life throws everyone curveballs and sometimes obtaining a high-school diploma is not possible. The General Education Development (GED) examination is equivalent to a high-school diploma. Passing this test is deemed important, because it can expand employment opportunities, increase wages and allow persons to go to college.

New Challenges Foundation (NCF) is a certified testing centre for the GED programme.

A meeting was held Sunday with New Challenges Foundation (NCF) President Charles Lindo and Director Francine Foe with Community Tutorial Foundation representative Delroy Pierre to discuss NCF’s request to accommodate the GED exams for students of St. Maarten, and to assist NCF in developing an effective GED programme for Statia.

According to Pierre, the tests are not too difficult for someone who prepares him or herself in the right way through a local study programme or online classes.
