Donations were made to three local organisations recently during the celebration of Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle’s 20th anniversary, The donations were presented to Lottie Petersen of Diabetes Foundation, which offers awareness of diabetes in the community and does regular testing on Saturdays at various locations; Raymond Jessurun of Alzheimer’s Foundation, which brings awareness to the community on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease; and Astrigt Hermelijn of Parkinson’s Foundation. Parkinson’s is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremors, muscular rigidity and slow, imprecise movement, chiefly affecting middle-aged and elderly people. Rotary Mid Isle was able to raise this money with the Help of the 39th Heineken Regatta at the Heineken Regatta car parking on Kim Sha Beach.
