Dump session in Parliament off

PHILIPSBURG–The continuation of the urgent Central Committee meeting of Parliament about the solutions for the country’s constantly smouldering and smoking dumpsites has been postponed until further notice.

The sitting, slated to resume at 3:00pm in Parliament House, has been put off at the request of Prime Minister Leona Romeo- Marlin. No reason was given for the postponement request.

Romeo-Marlin is one of three ministers who are part of the debate in the legislature. The other two ministers are Environment and Infrastructure Minister Miklos Giterson and Health Minister Emil Lee.

The session started on Wednesday with brief introductions from ministers and was suspended after Members of Parliament (MPs) posed questions and received some answers from ministers. Today’s session would have seen ministers deliver more answers in the continuing debate.

Two fires, thought to have been set by arsons, and the resulting think smoke blanketed parts of the country as of Sunday. This forced a three-day shutdown of sections of government, numerous schools and businesses.
