Education representatives from Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten and the Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba) got together in Aruba for a conference on Dutch as a foreign language on November 23 and 24. The conference, which focused on forming a network for Dutch as a foreign language, was held at University of Aruba.
It was guided by Marjan de Visser-Lemstra, who works in St. Maarten for the Dutch Flemish language organization “Taalunie.” Participants worked on the establishment of a sustainable network for Dutch as a foreign language. During the forum, representatives investigated possibilities where the islands can meet and cooperate in the field of Dutch as a foreign language.
