Update: The car that was stolen this morning was found undamaged by the police in Dutch Quarter. The licence plates as well all personal items of the owner were removed from the vehicle.
A towtruck was dispatched to pick up the vehicle.
MIDDLE REGION–A Daily Herald delivery person was robbed of her car, a red Hyundai I10 with licence plate P5136, in Middle Region at 4:00am Thursday while delivering the paper.
The robber was hiding near Stephanie Supermarket and when the delivery lady stepped out to deliver the paper he jumped into the car and drove off with it. She noticed a blue Atos type car, which she had seen earlier that morning on her delivery route in Madame Estate, a bit further down the road taking off after the stolen vehicle.
We urge anyone who has seen either one of these vehicles after 4:00am today to contact the police at 542-2222.
The delivery lady was unhurt but understandably very upset after the carjacking.
This newspaper’s subscribers and shops in Middle Region, Sucker Garden, Upper Prince’s Quarter, Philipsburg and Pointe Blanche will not receive any papers today, March 31, because of the carjacking.
